How to find Bargains and Shop Safely on EBay

Search for auctions ending at low traffic times such as Saturday nights, during holidays, major sporting events, etc. The reason for this is that sometimes you can get an item for a lower price because not as many people are around to bid.

Search for items with misspelled words in the title. Misspelled items get found in searches less often and due to this many times you can get them for a steal. Try all of the spelling variations you can think of and see what bargains you can find.

Per statistics most bidders on eBay bid in even amounts such as $50 or $75.50. If you make your bid an amount such as $50.11 or $75.52 it can sometimes make all the difference in outbidding your competitor and winning that item!

It's sometimes a good idea not to bid too early on an auction. Bookmark the item or add it to your eBay watch list. Go back on the day that the item is ending and place your bid as close to the end of the auction as possible. You'll potentially avoid setting off a bidding frenzy and possibly get the item for a bargain price.

Make sure to buy items using Paypal, eBay's official payment service. Paypal is one of the most convenient and safest ways to buy on eBay as it lets you pay with your credit card and offers buyers numerous protections to make sure a transaction goes well

Make sure the seller clearly has a clearly stated and fair return policy. A reputable seller will stand behind what they sell and take care of any problems that might arise.

Before bidding on an item check the seller's feedback and make sure their percentage of positive feedback is 99% or higher. Also be sure to read their current feedback to see what recent customers have had to say about them.

One easy way to quickly build a good feedback record as a buyer is to quickly pay the seller when you win an auction.

Stay away from sellers with private or hidden feedback. The main reason a seller would choose to hide their feedback would be a large amount of negative feedback from buyers.

Definitely stay away from a low feedback seller, especially one with no buyer feedback, that is selling a high dollar item with a short duration auction cycle such as a 1 day auction, unless it is a time sensitive item such as theater or sporting event tickets. Many times a short auction cycle, especially a 1 day auction, means that the seller is trying to pull a scam, before it gets reported to eBay.

When you're looking at an item be sure to look at the shipping costs to make sure that they are fair and accurate based on postage and how much packaging is involved.

We sincerely hope that these tips prove helpful and that they they improve your experience buying on eBay.
